10 reasons to bivouac
It'sspring! The perfect time to share with you, 10 good reasons to bivouac, 10 good reasons to be inspired by nature and incredible landscapes, 10 reasons to share your adventure with friends or to meet new ones on top of a mountain 🙂
1 - Going on an adventure
Of course, the first one could only be: "adventure". That little voice that calls us deep inside to set off with our hiking boots. It makes us want to discover new landscapes and climb new mountains.
Adventure with a capital "A" is all around us. You don't have to travel 500 km to enjoy the richness that nature offers. It can be hidden in a forest, a mountain or a coastline close to your home. 🙂
2 - Freeing yourself
Bivouacking is also a way to free yourself from everyday stress. Leave behind the challenges of everyday life and get away from it all. Any reason is good to take the time to enjoy every moment!
We live by the sun and enjoy total disconnection. Being free from your mobile and social networks is a real pleasure. Chances are you won't have a network on the hiking trails! 🥰
3 - Flexibility
In our daily lives, it is difficult not to be bound by rules and imperatives. Bivouacking is also, in a way, letting go. Thinking about the right direction to take. When the mind is free, it has the flexibility to find solutions 🙂
Let yourself be carried along a hiking trail! Take the time to take a break near a viewpoint, a river or a waterfall, or in the shade of a tree.
4 - Going beyond or refocusing on oneself
One of the reasons to enjoy bivouacking is toget out of one's comfort zone, away from the cocoon of one's house or flat. Adversity is always present, sometimes in the rain or in difficult terrain. Each effort offers its own pleasure in the face of the beauty of nature.
However, it is not only this "overcoming" that counts. Bivouacking is a time to refocus on yourself, away from the noise of civilisation, listening to the birds singing 🙂
5 - Being in the middle of nature
One of the reasons we can all agree on is to be in nature! The recent events of the COVID and the war in Ukraine have shown us even more how important nature is in our daily lives.
Breathe in the fresh air, take a nap in a light breeze, sunbathe... In short! Torecharge your batteries in the middle of the flora and fauna.
6 - Waking up in a 5-star hotel
Nature is an open-air hotel! With good planning and safety, bivouacking is a real pleasure. It is important to choose your equipment to ensure safety. All you need is a good tent, a sleeping bag, a good pack on your back and some supplies for your meals 🙂
It is important to understand your needs in order to make the right choice in your equipment. For bivouac or long-distance hikers, the ultralight philosophy is important.
It's enough to make your neighbour jealous if he chooses to stay in a hotel down in the village! The view you'll have when you wake up will be worth all the 5-star hotels in the world! What could be better than a night under the stars?
7 - Watching wildlife
A night in a bivouac will also allow you to hike in a different way, to take the time to settle down and experience a night in the middle of nature. Far away from everything, in the peace and quiet, you will surely have the opportunity tosee the wild animals that live in the surroundings.
8 - Eat great meals!
We all have a brand of dehydrated food that we haven't had a chance to try yet. Have you tried freeze-dried raclette without dishes? A stove, a little water and that's it! Joking aside, bivouac is also about realising that you can be satisfied with simplicity.
Sharing your meal with your hiking friends is a pleasure. It's a chance to share stories, experience, techniques and more! Don't forget the salt and pepper to enhance your meals!
9 - Seeing the stars
Perhaps you have the opportunity to see some stars in town? In nature, let the stars take you across the galaxies. For this experience alone, the bivouac is a magical place. It is the stars that lull you to sleep and take you to the land of dreams 🙂
10 - Being free
Finally, the best reason to go bivouacking (and I'm not the only one who thinks so!) is tobe FREE! Away from everything, under your tent, your tarp or under the stars, in a warm duvet. On top of a mountain or in the middle of nowhere, there is no better feeling than that of complete freedom!
We too often forget this freedom in our daily lives. Hiking and bivouacking are opportunitiesto let go and to let go.
CONCLUSION
We hope this article has inspired you to go on an adventure and bivouac in the wilderness. It is important to plan your outdoor trip with the right equipment. A tent, a sleeping bag, a good pair of boots and your equipment list will be needed to go bivouacking.
Go on an adventure with your friends or family! It's an opportunity to share good times in nature.
Bivouacking allows you to cut yourself off from your daily life, to surpass yourself, to see beautiful landscapes and to meet beautiful people on top of the mountains. There is always a very good reason to bivouac, it's up to you to discover yours 🙂
