At Mount Trail we develop ultra-light outdoor gear for your long hikes. The materials used and the design of our products are state of the art to reduce the weight of your backpack. The concept of ultralight is part of our DNA.

We want every outdoor enthusiast to be able to enjoy their activities without worrying about the weight of their equipment. Enjoying the view from a mountain is more fun than adjusting your backpack every 1 km because of its weight. Our equipment is designed to walk thousands of kilometres in extreme conditions.

We also offer our custom service for specific and unique needs.

We think differently!

Mount Trail offers ultralight equipment. We use materials like DCF, cuben fiber, merino wool, plue and down. We offer sleeping bags, quilts, tents and backpacks.

Dyneema® Composite Fabrics (cuben fiber)

DCF material is at the cutting edge of innovation of hiking innovation thanks to the high density polymer. It is classified as ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE).

The characteristics of this equipment are as follows:

- Ultralight: 30% lighter than nylon and polyester; 45% lighter than aramid.

- Robust: 15 times stronger than steel in terms of gram to weight ratio.

- Durable: UV resistant and waterproof. Abrasion and tear resistant.

Merino Wool

We choose the best merino wool from a technical, environmental and ethical point of view. Our merino wool is Woolmark certified. Our fabrics are 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable. Our moral and ethical commitments on the treatment of sheep are :

- Freedom from hunger and thirst

- Freedom from discomfort

- Freedom from pain, injury and disease

- Freedom to express normal behaviours

- Freedom from fear and distress

Merino wool producers are located in Australia, New Zealand, China and the United States. We are not aware of any Canadian producers. Our merino wool comes from Australia.

Feather and down

The feathers and down used in our sleeping bags and clothing are certified Responsible Down Standard (RDS). This certification ensures that the animals and processes are in accordance with our values and ethics. Our moral and ethical commitments are :

100% recycled polyester

This material is made from plastic bottles and waste. The material used is durable and environmentally friendly. Moreover, you can recycle your items after use or Mount Trail can recover your equipment to give it a second life.

The 100% recycled polyester is free of PFCs (perfluorinated and polyfluorinated compounds) which are harmful to the environment and health. PFCs are widely used in the outdoor industry... Our 100% recycled polyester is certified to Global Recycled Standard 4.0. For more information: click here.

In addition to its eco-friendly characteristics, this fabric offers excellent UV resistance and low water absorption. It is therefore waterproof. Stretching of the fabric is minimized when wet.

Above you will find our environmentally friendly materials.

Unfortunately, we still use non-eco-responsible materials (like most of our competitors). For example, the ties on the bags are made of non-recycled plastic. We are working to find solutions!
