Tips & Tricks
The Mount Trail tarps are minimalists and ultralight. This shelter will allow you to face the bad weather while minimizing the weight of your backpack. Weight is one of the key factors during your hikes and outdoor activities. You won't find such an ideal, light, and minimalist shelter to go on an adventure.
It is important to put the tarp perpendicular to the wind for better protection and a comfortable night's sleep. To install your tarp, choose natural shelters (rocks, trees, etc.), flat ground and a suitable surface thatwill insulate you from the ground (moss, earth, grass, etc.). Protection from wind and cold are two crucial elements in the choice of your location. Hikers make the mistake of putting their tarp or tent on sand, packed earth or rock. Don't make that mistake!
Note that tarps do not provide mosquito shelter. If the season is not favorable for mosquitoes then you will sleep peacefully. If you camp during the summer, late spring or early fall, you may be awakened by a mosquito bite. You can use the "cowboy" method. This technique consists of sleeping with a hat (a cap also works) and a mosquito net.
