HOW TO USE IT?
Step 1: Use the small bag to put a rock in it and tie the rope with a simple knot.
Step 2: Choose your tree and branch at least 100 meters (330 ft) from your camp. The branch must be at least 2 meters (6.5 ft) long and at least 5 meters (16 ft) from the ground. The branch and tree must be solid.
Step 3: Throw the small bag over the chosen branch.
Step 4: Pass the rope through to retrieve both ends.
Step 5: Tie the carabiner with a strong knot and pass it through the loop of the bear bag.
Step 6: Pass the second end of the rope through the carabiner.
Step 7: Put the bear bag back on top of the branch.
Step 8: Attach a 20 cm (7.5 inch) piece of wood horizontally to your rope at a height of 2 meters (6.5 ft) - or as high as you can.
Step 9: Allow the rope to run and the wood will get caught in the carabiner. Your bag of food will be high up and away from the bears.
Tolower the bear bag: Pull on the rope and remove the 20 cm (7.5 inch) piece of wood. You will be able to retrieve your food bag
Note : Mount Trail will be making a video in the coming weeks. We invite you to watch videos on Youtube. There are several techniques available. The one presented here is the most reliable method. Choose a tree and a solid branch. With a bit of practice, you can get your food out of the bear shelter in 1-2 minutes. The hardest part is to throw the rock above the tree branch!
